[blparent] Attending convention with a sighted toddller

Hi Angelina,
I took Kaelyn last year, when she was about 19 months old. She did ok in
the camp, but it was a long week for both of us. I made sure to skip some
of the sessions for some down time with her. On Banquet night she clung to
me and I had a hard time leaving. They had packed up most of the toys, so
Kaelyn didn't feel like anything was familiar to her. She doesn't usually
act that way. I can assure you that they are very good about keeping kids
safe. They don't allow people into the rooms unless they know they are a
parent or a child care worker. That was very high on my list when I took
her there. I volunteered in one of the rooms the first day so I could get a
feel for the program. I wasn't in the same room as Kaelyn, but I was right
next door and I got to know some of the staff that way. I left my cell
phone number with them but they never called me. Kaelyn was fine when I
picked her up so I'm assuming they just never had a need to call me.
Feel free to ask me any questions you have. I do hope you can go. I wish I
could go again this summer but we can't afford for both my husband and me to
go, so he is going and I am staying home.
Take care,
Leanne
