Priscilla Ferris, the past president of the NFB of MA, was a Girl Scout
leader for years and very active with Scouts for a long time. If you want to
contact her, contact me off list at bpierce at nfb.org and I will get hold of
her phone number--don't know if she still has access to email.

Well what started this is at the end of May there is an event called Roar
and Snore at the zoo. It is a troop based event and our troop will not be
attending this year, but Gab really wants to go and for that matter so do I.
But you either have to be a leader (certified with a back ground check) or
you have to be an adult girl scout (certified with a back ground check). I
don't mind the background check, but a couple of years ago, I inquired about
becomine a leader and they said I could not because I was blind. I hear the
woman who told me that is no longer there. So I was just curious if anyone
had difficulties obtaining that status. V

I am a girlscout leader. It was a very simple process actually. My niece
wanted to join girlscouts. They didn't have a leader for brownies, at her
school, so I convinced my sister to be the leader. Each troop has to have 2
leaders. Ours actually has three. But anyway, I filled out the registration
form, paid my 12 dollar yearly dues, attended a few classes, attend a
monthly service meeting, and of course we have two meetings with the girls
every month. I suggest contacting your local girlscout council. I'm sure
that they are always looking for leaders, at least that is the case around
here.
