[blparent] Talking baby Thermometer?

There are no talking thermometers specifically for babies I have seen. I
have one that I put under my son's arm when he was an infant, and then was
able to use one that goes in his ear after he turned a year old. (They
don't recommend the ear ones for infants.) I believe there may be one that
talks that goes on a forehead. You can also use many talking ones annually,
though I'd check with a pediatrician because not everyone recommends this
method. As you get to know your baby you will become very good at telling
when he or she feels warmer than normal and has a fever. Of course
thermometers are great for confirmation and to check to see how high the
fever is, but personally I don't often use one. I'm pretty lucky though to
have a healthy kid over all who doesn't get too sick too often. And, I'm
very glad to have a talking thermometer when I want it.
Two more quick things. First, if you use a thermometer under the
armpit you need to add a couple of degrees to the result in order to get the
correct body temperature and/or tell the doctor you used this method. I
think an annal reading might be slightly higher than one taken orally as
well, but am not as sure about that. Second, it is a good idea to ask your
doctor to let you know your baby's temperature at each well child visit.
This is because a lot of people have body temperatures a little lower than
98.6 and some have normal temps that are higher. My son is normally about
97.8 or so. This means that if he has a temperature of 100 it's probably a
little closer to 101 in most kids because he has a lower starting point. I
hope this makes sense. The only way to know normal though is to ask at
visits, or take the temperature once in a while at home when your baby is
not sick.
Hope this helps.

Subject: [blparent] Talking baby Thermometer?

Hi,
We are wondering if there is a talking Thermometer specificly for babies?
Or, do we just use the ones I've seen for anyone?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance, and have a great day!

In Christ, Miranda
