[blparent] Car seats for children 1 year-old or older?

Hi,
When you take a taxi for instance, and you have to remove the large carseat, how do you carry the carseat (say if you had groceries or other items, or use a cane)?
It wouldn't be so bad if the darn Graco ones for over 30 lbs would fit in strollers, but that won't work.
Thanks in advance for the aditional help, and have a great day!

In Christ, Miranda

Most of those permanent placement car seats also have slots that you can
slide a regular passenger seatbelt into if you take a taxi or ride in
somebody else's car. They're sort of bulky and cumbersome, but at least the
toddlers stay safe. I'm not sure about a bus, though, since there aren't
any seatbelts.
