Hi Miranda. Call the Independence Market and tell them how many copies
you'd like of Parenting Without Sight. The booklets are absolutely free and
you can get as many as you like.

Hi Eric,
I too, would be interested to know how I can obtain the printed booklets.
Here's what I did with the online version:
As you may or may not know, my husband and I are in the process of being
licensed as foster parents. So, we have a caseworker through our agency. She
has not put our Blindness in a negative light by any means, but we wanted to
educate her right up front.
So, I went to the link where "Parenting without Sight" is located (sorry I
don't have it handy at the moment), and I emailed this link to our
caseworker. I explained in my email that this was not meant to offend her in
any way, but to educate her about how a person who happens to be Blind can
certainly parent.
I also encouraged her to ask us any questions she may have. When contacting
her later that week, I asked her if she'd received my email. Not only did
she receive it, but she printed the booklet as a resource!
I believe this has broken down many barriers, and I'm looking forward to any
information on how to obtain and distribute the print booklets!

In Christ, Miranda

Hi people, did any of you read Gary Wunder's article in the Braille
Monitor? It was about Erika Johnson and Blake Sinnett trying to get back
Mikaela from from Child Protective Services after 57 days. This outrages
me! And I'm sure it does to all of you. I've heard that Missouri, the
"Show Me State," didn't help their cause by sqpeeding up the custody
process. I hear that NFB has booklets called: Parenting Without Sight:
What Attorneys and Social Workers Should Know About Blindness. However, I
need to know the cost of these booklets. Also, I plan to hand these
booklets out at hospitals. Why do I want to do this as a Christmas
project? Because I would like to educate. So here's my question to you,
as an independent advocate for the blind, who is blind myself: How do I
hand these booklets out without soliciting? I know what the message is in
these booklets, so how can I convey it without stepping on attorneys' and
social workers' shoes?

Any help from any of you, on or off-list, would be greatly appreciated.

Eric
