Rebecca, where do you come up with this stuff? Now I'm teaching my son to
think only of himself and not regard my feelings all because I'm trying out
a new carrier that a friend just gave to me! YIKES! I think you really need
to reflect on what you're about to say before spewing out off the mark
comments on this list. Please do this for all of our sake or don't comment
because we all need to feel comfortable sharing and definitely not worry
about someone making off the wall comments and accusations. I feel safe
saying that like myself, the other parents on this list are going to put
their kids first and try and find something that works well for them too,
but we don't all have $300 to throw down on a new carrier so we're going to
try and make something given to us by a generous friend work for us first
and go from there if it doesn't.

By the way, the update to the Kelty carrier my friend just generously gave
to me is that I just needed to size it right for myself and it's working
quite well now. Dawson is comfortable in it and loves being so high up and
I've played around with it enough to get it to fit me just right. If I had
purchased this carrier I would have gone for a nicer mottle, but since it's
working out and comfortable now the price is right.

Interesting.
In my house, Mama needs comfort too. If it's hurting you, then it has to go.
Your baby will be fine in the carrier that fits you well

Being in pain isn't worth saving money. And, Mama has needs too

The below post reminds me of Amy Tan's story where the mom is so into her
baby's comfort that the child grows up not regarding Mom as a person. Very
interesting story about what we do for our kids and the message they take
away from it.

The Kelty Kid carrier that I'm currently borrowing from a friend is the base
line version and it does the trick but could be a lot more comfortable.
There a features I'd much prefer it have if I had purchased it and it's nice
to see now what I must have in a carrier I buy and what features I could
live without. Dawson seemed very comfortable in it and loved being so high
up to look around. This particular carrier only holds up to 40lbs so if I
buy one I'll probably be looking for one that can hold up to 60 or 70 lbs.
Since Dawson is so tall as well, I think that a carrier with a higher weight
capacity would fit him better as well. If my friend ends up giving me this
carrier because she might not be needing it at all then I will use it and be
grateful I saved a boat load of money despite the fact that it's not the
most comfortable, but otherwise I'll be on the hunt for something that will
feel good on my body and baby's. If Dawson didn't seem comfortable in this
Kelty that I'm borrowing I wouldn't even bother with it and give it back to
my friend, but we'll see as we continue to use it.

I love my frame carrier now, but I'm also short so it took a little getting
used to. I would really recommend checking out the carriers in a camping or
baby store and then trying to find a better deal on line, as so many
carriers have xdifferent features and might fit you differently depending on
how they are designed. Also, both of my kids had no problem napping in our
frame carrier backpack. Ours has a five point harness, and where they don't
look the most comfortable while they are sleeping they are safe. Actually,
for whatever reason, my daughter naps most often in the backpack... It's
one of the few ways I can get her to nap. Yes, a stroller would probably be
more comfortable, but she seems to prefer being up higher so she can look
around before she falls asleep.
Good luck!
Melissa

A fraim carrier is usually for hiking. I don't personally find them
comfortable but I'm short. They do work for heavier children. You can get
them at baby stores, or camping stores, and we can't forget the good old
online shopping places.
