[blparent] cosleeping while traveling

HI,
We've had a lot of experience with this lately. My first choice is
to have our daughter sleep with us and I usually keep a pillow on the
outside or put her between my husband and I. This way, in case my arm drops
off of her, (I usually have my hand on her back kind of holding her close to
me and snuggling). A couple of times lately though we've had to sleep on a
double bed or a futon (sure I spelled that wrong.) IN this situation there
isn't really enough room for the three of us in the bed so we've put a heavy
quilt or blanket on the floor between the bed and the wall to create a
mattress for our child and laid her down there. The wall acts as one
barrier and then I have put either our suitcase or pillows on the other
sides. She has slept really well this way and it hasn't inconvenienced us
or our guests in any way. It also beats having to buy some other kind of
gear to carry along with us. Another option you could try is seeing if
whomever you are visiting has a crib or pack and play you could borrow or
one from another family member or close friend so that you could use it
while you are staying with them for your child to sleep in. Just some
ideas.

I used to put the passenger pillows close to the edges where I did not want
my child to roll. They worked just fine as after a bit, dad moved into that
spot.

Hello list,

I will be traveling to Idaho and Oregon over Christmas and the new year and
would love to hear from those of you who have coslept with a toddler while
traveling. At one of the homes I'll be staying in we'll have the mattress
on the floor so I'm not concerned about that but at the other home we'll be
in a regular bed. I know that they have travel bed rails, but do you guys
know if they have any type of contraption to hook to baby and mom so that
baby can't role too far from mom in the night. I know that Dawson and I
will go to bed before my husband so there will be a few hours where I'm on
one end of the bed and Dawson's in the middle. He'll probably be just fine
since baby's seldom role too far from mom and I'm a light sleeper, but
sometimes there's great tricks out there or products that could be a life
saver during times like this. Love to hear what those of you who've
traveled with your cosleeping toddlers have done.

Thanks and Merry Christmas early to all.

Erin
