Hi group, 

A little off topic here. However, I am wondering if anyone knows anything
about ways blind kids are coping with the invention of the "smart board."
They are all the rage in my daughters classroom. She is sighted so this is a
great educational tool for her. I sit and watch this technology demonstrated
by her teacher just the other day and started thinking about myself being a
blind child in this very sighted technical environment. If you have not seen
a "smart board" the device allows the teacher to do various activities on
this large piece of technology board in the front of the classroom. The
children can touch various aspects on the board and make items change. They
can use clickers to make selections as well as use dry erase markers on the
device. The teacher can move and change items with their hand as well as
circle items and color change various portions of the board. This is really
a virtual chalk board. So where does the blind child find themselves in all
of this technology? I am worried for them. Again, great device for the
sighted kid.
