"Are there products on the market that are edible for children, that
resemble braille characters, like braille alphabet cereal?"
The Gerber Fruit and Veggie Melts or the Yogurt Melts areround dots.  They
are fairly large, about the size of the tip of your thumb.  You could make
large braille characters from them.
