[blparent] info on a situation from the single parents, the rest of you way in to.

Heaven knows I've run into plenty of those on the bus! What I usually do
after exchanging a few pleasantries with those around me is put my head
phones on and mention how I don't get time to read leisurely or listen to my
favorite music so this is my one chance in the day. Then I'll listen to a
book or music on low or turn my Victor Stream off completely to listen for
my stop but leave the head phones on so folks think I'm still listening. I
haven't been able to do this since my son was born since he's still young
and needs my undivided attention, so what I'll do if I have him with me in a
carrier on my front is just start singing songs and playing games with him
which usually keeps the undesirables at bay. Sometimes you get a strange
one who can't take even the most obvious cues and sometimes just need to be
more assertive but as friendly as possible and simply tell them that you
need to focus on your child at that time or need some quiet time to relax
from your busy day. I try as hard as I can at first to make it so they
don't think it's about them, but that can be challenging with certain folks.
I feel your pain! GRIN
Erin
