[blparent] Sensitive breast feeding concern, ladies only

Breast feeding is just one of a million wonderful ways to bond with your
baby. It's just giving it all you can to provide the ultimate nutrition
through breast milk that is key and if one cannot nurse their baby for
whatever reason, there are good supplements out there these days thank God.
I have friends who adopted their babies and because they naturally could not
breast feed they made sure to do a lot of skin on skin contact with them
when they were especially little to help build a strong bond. I still will
hold my son in a hug position after we've taken a nice warm bath together
and it's just a wonderful sleepy bonding time. Something else a lot of
women I know have done when they cannot nurse is to get breast milk through
a breast milk bank or through a private provider. This is an awesome option
that I'm so glad we have now.

I completely agree. Nursing is great. Even though it was a struggle, I
wouldn't trade it for the world. But just because about half of my baby's
caloric intake came from formula, give or take, and just because a lot of
her feedings were from a bottle, didn't mean I couldn't bond with her.
Bonding is an ongoing process. It may start with holding and cuddling a
baby, but it still goes on as your child grows up, when you sit and snuggle
with him or her, do a bedtime story and a good night kiss, play games,
laugh, answer questions, and on and on. Sarah and I had an awesome bonding
moment this morning when we sat on the porch swing and watched the birds
eating from our new feeder. A breast may be a good starting point, but it
is definitely not crucial.
