[blparent] easy to install carseats?

There are 2 ways of installing car seats, with the vehicles seat belt
system, or with the LATCH system. Because convertible car seats can be
installed front facing, or rear facing, there is usually one or two places
the seat belt has to be threaded through, which can be a pain. You could
look at a larger infant carrier, like the Graco snugride 35, it may have the
slots for the seat belt to pass through. Or look in to a convertible car
seat that has quick connect LATCH connectors. The Britax marathon 70 is one
such seat. It is very simple to install and remove. The Marathon 70 is not a
cheap seat, but it is one of the safest on the market, and will last rear
facing to 45 pounds and 5 point harness front facing to about 70 pounds, so
you may not need to buy another seat. Of course this will depend on how long
the child is to. I am not sure of any other brands that have the quick
connect LATCH connectors. I do not know how the sit and stroll connects in.
If the vehicle is equipped with LATCH, even if it is not the fancy
connectors it could save you some time. The LATCH belt is usually threaded
through the seat at the factory, and you do not need to remove it, just
connect it and tighten. I am sure the seat you got came with the LATCH BELT,
and maybe even two of them. One for the top anchor, and the other for the
bottom anchors. I think every car made after 96 has to have the LATCH
System.

Subject: [blparent] easy to install carseats?

Hello everyone,
My 12-month-old son will soon be outgrowing his infant carseat, which I am
sad about. We've already switched to a large convertible carseat in our car
but I am using the infant carseat when I get rides from people to playdates
and other activities. The infant carseat is very easy to install in someone
else's car, as the seatbelt is threaded through the top of the carseat, so
securing it in someone's car is very easy. Besides the sit 'n stroll, do any
of you know of any other carseat that has an easy to install design that
will fit larger children? So far I haven't found any. All the convertible or
toddler carseats have the seatbelt threading at the bottom, which I found
very hard to do. I would like to install the carseat as quickly as possible
since the other moms who pick me up have their own babies as well.
Thanks for any help. I know about the sit 'n stroll and I Know the
installation is easy but am not sure I want to buy that if there's a better
option.
Thanks.
Ronit
