I feel you on the sadness, mine is about to graduate to a booster seat this weekend.
I use an alpha omega carseat.
It threads through the bottom though it isn't difficult to install.
Ease of use matters, but so does realizing that it isn't all about the need for speed. The other moms need to realize this. Also, your kid is approaching the age when tantrums happen and you'll move from just taking the little monster wit you to needing to get his or her buy-in into whatever the plan is.

Subject: [blparent] easy to install carseats?
Hello everyone,
My 12-month-old son will soon be outgrowing his infant carseat, which I am
sad about. We've already switched to a large convertible carseat in our car
but I am using the infant carseat when I get rides from people to playdates
and other activities. The infant carseat is very easy to install in someone
else's car, as the seatbelt is threaded through the top of the carseat, so
securing it in someone's car is very easy. Besides the sit 'n stroll, do any
of you know of any other carseat that has an easy to install design that
will fit larger children? So far I haven't found any. All the convertible or
toddler carseats have the seatbelt threading at the bottom, which I found
very hard to do. I would like to install the carseat as quickly as possible
since the other moms who pick me up have their own babies as well.
Thanks for any help. I know about the sit 'n stroll and I Know the
installation is easy but am not sure I want to buy that if there's a better
option.
Thanks.
Ronit
