Hi, I think what Jo Elizabeth is referring to is to, that recently there has been a large amount of blind parents who were having children in hopsitals. And because the hospital officials were unsure how a blind parent would take care of their children, the hospital forces social services to be involved. I have done alot of work on this matter, and have had my own custody struggles. I don'tthink it necessary for you to say anything about it, but if they do saw concern then there are some things I can suggest that happen. I am working to have everystate in the United states to pass legislation to prevent this unnecessary violation of our civil rights. >> Hi, Tatyana. When is your baby due? Taking maternity classes at the hospital where you plan to deliver is a good start. Introduce yourselves around to the nurses and staff so they can get to know you before you arrive in labor. For my own peace of mind, I asked if the hospital had any policies that would make the staff look unfavorably at a blind mom or want to involve Child Protective Services right away. I felt the direct approach was best, but a lot of people don't go that far.
