Jessica,
I am sorry to hear that your going through this very unnecessary struggle. Have you gotten your NFB affiliate involved? The reason I ask, is that I recently traveled to NY to help in a case with a mother who is trying also to get her children back from the DSS. I was present at the recent meting where she was granted more unsupervised visitation. If your needing help with the social services agency let the NFB know, and a blind parent, like myself can come and speak to the concerns that social services mgith have. If you want to email me off list to discuss this further, please do at marsha.drenth at gmail.com her DSS case managers had no clue how she would parent, when asked questions about the childrens safety, I answered all and everything they had questions about. I also am doing mentoring with this parent, to help make sure that she know all of the necessary parenting skills she will need in the future. The DSS folks saw this as very reassuring.
