[blparent] Sippy cups

Hello,

My suggestion is to stick with water as much as you can or they'll get too
used to the sugar in the juices and start refusing the water. I've seen
this happen with my friend's kids. When I do give my 22 month old son juice
I try to give him the fruit and veggie blend juices and dilute a little with
water. Otherwise, I'll give orange juice or apple juice. I try and brush
his teeth after the acidic juice drinks to try and avoid the acids hurting
his enamel. In researching healthy teeth for toddlers I found out that
giving milk or some cheese after sugary snacks or beverages helps to
neutralize the sugar on the teeth. My son loves cheese and is getting used
to drinking more and more cow's milk in addition to still nursing so this
isn't too hard to do with him, not to mention that we limit sugary snacks
but gram crackers are a favorite and have more sugar than we're comfortable
with. Be careful because lots of juices have added junk in them even when
the labels claim to be healthy. Something tasty you can try is to make
juice ice cubes and just place a cube in your child's sippy cup for a little
something special and refreshing in their water.

thanks for all the sippy cup advice. We're not trying to get her off the
bottle yet, so I'll let her play with it for now, and if she drinks out of
it maybe I can find out what juices she does or doesn't like.
she seems to like the water.
