[blparent] teaching methods

I did that same thing about 5 years ago, I had just bought one of those pcks
of 36 count and as I put it into the fridge, I hit the door and it fell to
the floor. Oooooh, how sad I was to loose all of the beautiful eggs to the
kitchen floor. And cleaning up, smashed eggs is absolutely no fun!

Yes I figured. I just thought you may be able to let her try with you again
on a flat surface as then it cracks differently and you may be able to save
the egg and you the mess. When I was around her age I knocked a whole carton
on the floor. I still remember that big mess of yellow!

I think I gave the wrong impression here. I know how to crack eggs. I've
done it successfully for years and years. It was when my daughter smashed
the egg on the edge of the counter that I got splattered. I meant it as a
funny story, not as a question about how to crack eggs.

I was taught by a chef and others that the sure way to help avoid shells is
to crack the egg on a flat surface instead of the edge of something. It
makes a cracked weakened place that you can then push your thumps through
instead of actually breaking the egg.

Lol, there are so many corny egg puns, but don't worry; I won't use them! I
crack the egg on the side of the bowl instead of the edge of the counter and
just hold it carefully to make sure the shells don't get in the bowl. It
usually works. I usually don't have tiny pieces of egg shell in my food. But
my mom sometimes does and she can see. But it's usually just one tiny piece
of shell.
