Yes, this was my experience too. I eventually go t to the point where the dog was too much of a pita so retired the dog.

My son moves way too slow for the dog and loves to stop every few feet to
explore. I have to keep shooting off this way and that, so it wouldn't be
practical for the dog since we're not on a purposeful route as you probably
remember dogs needing from when you had one. If my husband's around then I
can use my dog and just meet them both at the corner or I'll just heel my
dog along if I want to walk with the gang. I also like the cane when I'm
just within our gates with my son because then I can check how close my son
is to the curbs and other things. Both forms of mobility have their pros
and cons and different times that's for sure. We are blessed in this
country to have our options.

Erin

Go to the zoo. Seriously the San Diego zoo is awesome! Ditto on Sea World.
Find a place to live that meets your needs.
You've mentioned your current digs and that you use your cane. I used to use
a dog and found the cane easier once i had my daughter. Wondering why you
use the cane when out in your neighborhood with your son v. your dog?
Like your bell ideas btw.

Hello List,

I'm so excited to announce that my husband just got an advancement in the VA
and so we will be moving to San Diego, California in about three weeks to a
month. All engines are fired up and we are frantically packing and
minimizing. Our little Dawson is adorably aiding us in the process as much
as a 15 month old can and sometimes emptying the box we just packed but
that's okay because we want him to enjoy this time and change in our lives.
It's too cute to see how proud he is with helping mommy and daddy.

I'd love to hear from those of you who have spent some time or live in San
Diego. We have visited several times and know the area we want to live so
that helps a lot. I know that it doesn't even begin to compare with Tucson
in how much more accessible and nice a place it is to live but if any of you
have any advice or tips I welcome them. It will be a big change for us
because we'll be going from renting a house with a back yard to living in an
apartment. I'd love to know how folks who live in more urban areas play
outside with their little ones. Right now I've been spoiled by living in a
gated subdivision so I can take Dawson out and we can walk around with very
little traffic coming through, but now that our guy is very close to riding
a tricycle and such combined with where we'll be living, it adds a new
dynamic to the picture. I imagine we'll be playing a bit in the hall of our
apartment and such but I want to make sure that we're not being a nuisance
to neighbors. Additionally, I want to make sure Dawson gets plenty of fresh
air and so playing outside will have to be figured out one way or another.
We'll probably be in a gated apartment complex so that will help a ton but
there will be a lot more people around so I want to know how you guys do it
with tots on bikes for safety. I could still use Dawson's harness and bell
which will help, but traffic should we travel outside the gates is what I'm
worried about. I plan on keeping Dawson behind me following so that he
cannot shoot out into the street so that should help a ton.

Looking forward to the beaches and so much more!

Thanks,

Erin
