[blparent] Trampolines, yes or no?

You can get large trampolines with netting all around them. My friends rule
is no more than 2 children, and she has parents sign a permission slip she
keeps on hand. I'm thinking about getting a single kid trampoline meant for
indoor use with the netting around it.

That's what I wish people would understand in this crazy world, anything,
and I mean anything, can be dangerous if used without rules or at times
supervision. We had a big trampoline in our backyard and the kids loved it,
it was great exercise and for a cool summer treat put a sprinkler underneath
it. Yes we had a couple accidents, the worse, when the neighbor boy broke
his arm ... but accidents happen.

I, personally think you should get one. I also think that you should get
one of those nets you put around so no one falls off or through the springs.
Anyone can fall and get hurt no matter what you do. And if your kids get
hurt riding bikes or skate boarding or running or if they just trip over
their own 2 feet, you would have to do the same.
How old are your kiddos?
Are they sighted or blind?

Thanks for all the warm welcomes!

I need all your opinions on outdoor trampolines. My husband feels they are
not safe, and should not be used if I am alone here with the kids. So, we
don't have one. We are outside of town, no public transit here, so if
someone got hurt, I'd have to call my folks or the ambulance.

Do any of you have a trampoline? What are your concerns, and what are your
rules about it?

I ask because I have one child who is impulsive and very much a kinesthetic
learner. He needs lots of body movement to have a good day without getting
into too much trouble. A large outdoor trampoline would help him, but I'm
worried about accidents and ER trips. I agree with my husband that it's
peace of mind not to have one, so is there something else we could use
that's just as stimulating?

Thanks for your opinions.

Sonja
