[blparent] Suggestions about products helpful once baby arrives

We currently chose a blue color for the rocker fabric, but once I know
the sex, I will either go super girly for a girl, or something
definitely boy-like, though I do not want sports theme items or real
cartoony things for the nursery. I already know the crib bedding and
nursery accessories I plan to purchase once I know the sex.

I'm strongly considering the cribs that will later convert into beds,
but it just depends on if I find a crib I like. I don't plan to spend
much on a crib if not a convertible one since you don't end up using it
for long; Penny has been out of a crib since she was
fourteen-months-old.

I have no intention of purchasing a changing table. We plan to use a
dresser since it also provides plenty of extra storeage and can be used
longer than the infant years. Again, the father-in-law is providing the
dresser of our choice.

In terms of nursery furniture, I really only plan on having a crib,
rocking chair and the dresser. We, of course, may also end up with a
standing shelf of sorts for various things and perhaps a small night
stand, but I also do not like clutter. We shall see.

Sincerely,
Bridgit Kuenning-Pollpeter

Brigit,
Personally, I would buy something in neutral colours, i.e greens,
yellows,
blues. But the occasional pink doesn't go amiss. I also thought of
buying a
small stereo with a cd changer for the nursery. My father always told me

music was terrible for a baby to listen to, as it conditioned them to
never
sleep without it, and their ears need rest, too. Personally, as an
adult, I
can't sleep without some kind of music or noise in the background. But I

think the convertible crib/toddler/big kid bed might be a good idea, to
save
money in the future.
It's too bad they don't make a dresser with a flip-over changing top,
but
then again, that's just me.
