[blparent] Leashes (was resource list)

Dianne, I totally agree with what you're saying about not judging each
other's parenting stiles, especially when it comes to things like leashes
that don't even begin to bring-up a moral or ethical issue. Just so you
know though, if it's a decent harness and leash, there is no way the child
can take it off of themselves or the parent. My son has a harness that has
a leash that attaches to his back so he can't get to it to take it off. The
end of the leash loops around my wrist so he's not getting that off of me
either unless I'm knocked-out cold. SMILING Sometimes I need the use of
both hands and that's where the leash can come in handy as well. I totally
respect if someone doesn't prefer the leash for themselves but like you
said, it's important that we use ideas that we feel we can off this list as
parents who are blind and simply disregard those that don't.

Erin

I personally think that we should not judge each other's parenting skills
what works for you may not work for someone else for example holding your
child's hand may work for you as well as me but it may not work for other
parents some kids are hard to control by just holding their hand and all the
leash does is keep them hook to you. Most kids can take them off when they
wish to anyway all they have to do is unhook it from their mom or dad's arm.
