[blparent] Helping child with letters when blind- wood vs. plastic

I love the Melissa and Doug stuff too. Things may have changed of course,
but back when I was looking at wooden train sets, Melissa and Doug's big set
was the best bargain. Those of you into wooden toys might also be interested
to know that you can get die cut cars with a wheel width designed to run on
the train tracks. I found them by doing a search on wooden cars, and there
are a lot of sets out their with some great and affordable wooden toys.

That said, some of the wooden toys are also made from flimsy materials. A
good quality plastic toy may be just the thing to meet your needs. Discovery
Toys are a good source for those.

I am not affiliated in any way, I just think both of these companies are
good sources for quality educational toys.

I remember the old plastic letters, grin. I think I had a set when a
child. I like the Doug and Mellissa products because they not only
encourage play without the flashiness of most toys today, which are more
of a distraction than a learning tool, but they are toxic-free. Their
products are also very affordable. I have bought quite a few on Amazon
at great prices, and I have yet to be disappointed with anything.

Sincerely,

I like wooden toys too for a variety of reasons, but I thought I would
add that there is a plastic set that is available at Toys-R-Us that also
has braille on each of the letters.
