Hi. I felt very left out and inept when my daughter first started preschool
because her dad didn't read the signs at the school or the notes sent home,
and I missed parent/teacher conferences and didn't dress my daughter up for
picture day. So I contacted the school and asked for the teacher to either
call or e-mail me at least once a week so I knew what was going on. I've
been able to participate in sending in empty boxes when the school was
making a grocery store, volunteer for the Halloween parade next week, and so
forth. Sometimes we just have to find a different way around the problem.

Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may
kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at
evening.--Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr.

I felt most left out when my sons were young and I didn't know about a
notice that was sent home from school because I forgot to check their back
packs, they didn't put it in or it was handwritten and their dad couldn't
read it or they didn't read it to me themselves when they got older.. (My
sons are now 29 and 26, and we have survivied; they are still at home with
just me,we all get along and it's all in the past.)
