[blparent] Bringing baby Declan home

What a fantastic question. We wish we knew that answer as well, sigh.
Our only hold up is that Declan has a good case of acid reflux, and he's
not eating much when bottle feeding. In order to get his minimum
requirement of food, he's still on a feeding tube through his poor
little nose since he is not even eating half of required amount during
bottle feeds. He's hungry, sucking and swallowing just fine, but the
reflux keeps him from wanting to bottle more after first burp. They just
switched his formula today to one used specifically for babies with
reflux, and he's been on an anti-reflux med for a few days now.
Hopefully this gets better so we don't have to come home with a feeding
button, though I'll do anything to have my baby finally home. Doctors
just keep saying we need to wait at this point, which is all they ever
say, grrr...

Otherwise, Declan is healthy and doing very well. This coming Wednesday
will be one month since his birth as well as one month since he's been
in NICU. I really, really hope we get to bring him home soon. Thoughts
and prayers and fingers crossed, please, smile. Will keep everyone
posted.

And I too would go through it all again just to have my little snuggle
buddy, grin.

Sincerely,
Bridgit Kuenning-Pollpeter

When do you get to bring baby home? I know nicu is stressful because
we've been there but oh it was so worth the stress to bring a wonderful
baby home again.
