[blparent] diapers

Are you interested in cloth diapers or disposables? That's your first big
choice. Some babies are less irritated by cloth diapers than by
disposables, but many do perfectly well with disposables.
If you are interested in disposables, the best idea is to buy a small
package of each kind at first, just in case your baby is sensitive to one
kind and you can't use it. Also, I wouldn't buy many of the newborn diapers
because your baby will grow out of them very quickly. And forget those
silly diapers with the slot cut out for the cord. It's just fine to roll
other diapers down to expose the cord as it heals.
In my experience, store branded diapers like Parents' Choice from Wal-Mart,
Up and Up from Target, Members Mark from Sam's Club, or Kirkland Signature
from Costco are just as good or better than national brands like Huggies and
Pampers. Luv's are one of the cheaper national brands, and they're
horrible.

kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at
evening.--Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr.

Subject: [blparent] diapers
Hello,
I see an ongoing discussion on cloth diapers on the list, but I'd like to
ask those parents who use disposable diapers for a baby care.
Are cloth diapers less irritating for a child skin than disposable ones?
I'm just getting started, the diapers world is huge and I would like to
minimize trials and errors with my baby skin, so I think the best way to
go would be using less harsh diapers, no dyes, no perfumes. It seems like
some brannds declare that they are free of bad chemicals but in reality
it's not so perfect.
I understand that every child is different and some may get a rash, some
not. Also every brand has few product lines on the market, I'm wondering
how to start. I think I'll need to bye a few different small packs of
various brands. But how many? How fast my boy is going to over grow to a
next size? Are boys and girls diapers are different? What brands do you vote
for?
Thank you all for your help.
Tatyana
