I agree with Jodie. Also, explain to your husband that, as he becomes
more verbal about what is happening around you, you can then begin to
put together sound associations and become more sound cue and smell
cue aware. For example, did you know your son was cooking? Did you
hear him open the oven? Did you hear your husband take the hotpad from
the counter? By having communication among all will help develop
auditory training.
