[blparent] Guide dog questions

One more thing: I forgot to strougly suggest that you always take a coppy of
the White Cane act.

Unfortunately, there are still establishments that don't know about the fact
the dog guides allows in them.

In the late 70s and 80s, my family and I would go into especially
restaurants who wouldn't know the law. In most cases, when you explained to
them the law, they understood. I remember one place (It was called Captain's
Quarters) who at first was very adament about not wanting my lab, Nuggett.
After a couple of minutes trying to explain to the owner, someone at the bar
who the owner knew well, explained also that this was the law. After this
was explained to him, he excepted the dog, and we were always welcomed there
with open arms.

My oppinion, and I think the oppinion of most Federationists, is that if a
place really doesn't want people and their dogs there, it probably isn't
worth eating there. Over the years, I have been excepted with my dog in some
of the nicest places and not excepted in "dumps."

It goes back to the fact that as Federationists, we have to "educate the
public."

Hope this helps.

I got all three of my dogs, and am getting my fourth, from The Seeing
Eye. I didn't have Kahlan when I had my other three, so this will be
anew experience for me. I love TSE and there's really nothing I don't
like. I have heard of Fidelco, but don't know anything about it, so
can't give you any info. I've had two golden retrievers and a black
lab. Depending on how much your dog food of choice costs and where you
get it, you could spend anywhere from around eighteeen to fifty dollars
for dog food, in my experience. Barring any unforeseen problems, you'll
probably only have to take the dog to the vet once a year for shots and
a physical, and you do need to keep up to date on heart worm and flee
prevention, which I always had to refill every six months. You can get
fleee prevention from a store, but heart worm needs to be obtained from
your vet. I can't give you an accurate vet estimation because it
depends on where you take the dog, how much he or she charges and
whether or not they offer discounts for service animals. Hope this helps.
