Of course with the different ages, I will have difference of interest for
reading. My oldest daughter, 10 is at a moment now where she just spoils
everything for her little sisters lol. Meaning, this is not real, that's
not real, lol. She is getting more into the nonfiction stuff, when she
reads, actually.
I agree, braille will not be a huge curiosity for them as my kids get bored
quickly, interested in something for a few, then poof, what's new?
The braille edge is a portable notetaker. I got it last year after my
hearing got worse to assist me at my day job to take notes during meetings,
as using jaws didn't help because my right ear was blasted, and hearing out
of my left ear was the only way to go for the remainder of my life lol.
Meaning, At a meeting, I will have jaws going to type up notes but couldn't
hear what other's were saying.

My daughter could care less about Braille. It just has no interest for her.
She has a couple friends that are intrigued by it, but for whatever reason
she isn't.
My thinking is that you'd do better reading things all of you like. Also,
some people just aren't big into reading. Some only read certain types of
books. I have a couple friends who won't read anything fictional, but they'd
spend all day reading nonfiction. Obviously, your girls will have to read
some things they don't like in order to get through school, in which case
you just remind them that when they are adults, they don't ever have to read
anything unless they want to.
What's the Braille Edge?

I may come off stupid here but I just thought with twin vision books,
accompanied by pictures, the reader would be able to maintain the focus.
I can see my girls being very curious more often with the story, and asking
several questions about how I read braille and things like that. I have
received that quite a bit with the braille edge when I use it, which is ok
by the way.

Your girls may be past the point of twin vision books, most
of them in my experience are meant for the preschool and younger set, mostly
to show the kids pictures.
My daughter is almost seven. I read the non twin vision books to her, we've
been on a Judy Blume and Beverly Clearly kick as of late.
I don't think either of us cares that she doesn't follow along, she pays
attention, and it's good bonding time.
She also likes reading print books to me. I'll help her when she gets stuck
either by having her spell the word for me or by helping her figure out its
meaning.
We have many of the same interests, and we seem to enjoy the same types of
books (certain writing styles drive us nuts), and maybe that helps.

I have 3 sighted children, all girls ages 6, 8 and 10. I will email more
once I see a thread going to give me an idea of what to post so I will not
get in trouble.
For starters, where can I get twin vision books I think they are called, so
I can read to my children and they can follow along as well.
Thank you!

Happy new year everyone and hello.

I just signed up and there are reasons why I am here which I will spare
everyone the details, but I am mainly here because I am a blind parent and
have been for 10-years and still going strong.

I'm interested to see how this list will
help me. I look forward to hearing from any and all members.

Take care.
