Great points! I think it's all about keeping our power and keeping the
parenting hats on.

Subject: [blparent] having sighted people around
hi in response to Eric's pose, Having sighted folks around can work out
depending upon the atitudes of the particular person. I knew folks that
believed we couldn't raise Mark. we had people wanting us to call if we
wanted them to discipline our child. in by opinnion the boundaries were
overstepped. If that was whet I could expect from sighted help then I didn't
want or need it. It has been my experience that well meaning folks wanted to
take control but not really help. If folks really want to help, the best
thing that they can do is help you as a blind person find ways to solve the
problem not take over the perceptions that they have about the problem
itself. I don't hate or dislike wighted folks I just want the respect that
they want for themselves.
