Hi Rebecca, I agree with you on what you said to mikayla. I would add:

While you're in high school, you should strongly consider taking a class,
Survival of Singles, or Family Psychology. Ask your Guidance Counselor for
this class and do what you can to learn, learn, learn. You will, most
likely, have a selection of the course where you will carry around a baby.
Again, this will be a learning experience for you and your classmates.

While you're grounded in NFB philosophy, don't just surround yourself
with NFB-ers. NFB is a start, but always be open to other blind people,
and their points of view. Become familiar with people who want to show you
the way. If your school has a Visually-Impaired and Disabled Department,
ask how you can be on the panel of speakers. Show your school that you
want to be treated like everyone else.

Also, don't limit your inquiries to blparent, the blind parents' mailing
list, or blindkid, the parents of blind children list. Talk to other
parents, blind, sighted, and disabled, and learn. I'm always here, and I
can be contacted at eric at pmpmail.com.

In closing, Rebecca: Your advice on finding a husband hits home with me!
I want a wife for me; I do not want an "equal marriage." I've been told to
write 10 qualities down you want in a woman, and that could apply to
Mikayla's situation. one of my hopes is to find someone who also is a dog
lover, an enthusiastic exerciser, a dancer, and someone who loves life.
I'm almost 40 and I'm still looking, but my high-school classes were of
great benefit to me! And I thank the Lord for that.

Eric
