[blparent] a question.

Well, Is the system planning on providingclassroom tablets for all students? If they decide to do away with paper, they are going to run into so many issues with kids who have everything from an iPad, iPhone or one of many numerous Androide devices. The school system better figure out how they are going to support all these devices should there be glitches. A device is only as good as the tech support you can get with it.

I can just hear, quote, I didn't get my homework done because I'm having trouble with my debvice, I can't print, don't know how to send, etc. In other words, a newer version of dog at the homework.

This, however, could be a leg up for our blind students who use technology because of the lack of access to hard copy. It would be interesting to know how the district thinks it is going to implement such a system. It sounds that they are making some gross assumptions without counting the costs. Teachers and admin will need to do lots of techie kinds of things in order to keep things running smoothly in the classroom.

Also, does this mean that they are doing away with cursive training?

Judy
I don't know a lot about this or what is going on, but last night I was listening to the local news and they brought up something I am not sure how I feel about. The teachers and the education board here are talking about changing the whole education system here from kindergarten to grade nine. They were sayhing that since most children come to school with devices of some kind such as i phones etc, and how a lot of kids no about going onto the internet and in some cases how to navagate simple sites that they are going to do away with text books and writing on paper altogether and everything will be computer based. Being a 62 year old grandma and not that good at technology I am not sure how I feel about such a big change all of a sudden. Isn't there a good chance that a lot of children could be left behind, and what about the costs of i phones etc to parents who are low income? I just have so many bad feelings about this. Children are already so used to calculators, in some cases I have been into stores where people do not know how to add and subtract on paper let alone in their heads. They were talking about doing away with memorization altogether. Where is it all going to lead? I know I sound extremely old fashioned, but I would like to hear some oppinions on this. Curious minds want to know. I hope I am not sounding stupid here. I believe that our kids should know about computers and all that goes with them but i would like to see them know how to do things themselves too.
God knows the end from the beginning so we can trust him with everything in between.
