[blparent] Talking Medical Thermometer

I've had the same experiences as Rebecca with the talking thermometer. I bought one before my daughter was born because taking her temperature was one of the things everybody seemed to be freaking out that I wouldn't be able to do. I used it once or twice, but I found I could tell by laying my cheek on my daughter's forehead when she had a fever worth noting, especially since the fever would be accompanied by other symptoms. I let the batteries run out of my talking thermometer, which was never all that accurate anyway, and I'm not even sure what happened to it. I've never missed it. Parents raised babies for millennia before there were devices to take their exact temperatures. Some pediatricians will ask for a temperature before you make an appointment. Just say your baby has a fever. They'll take the temperature when you arrive at the office anyway, even if you gave them a number on the phone.

101 is the temperature where peditritians usually start to care. Also they care about behavior of the child too.
I have found that I haven't needed one as much as I'd think, if one of my kids doesn't seem right, I tell the peditritian I need an appointment. I learned with my first not to ask for an appointment but to tell them I was coming in, and they would tell me a suitable time.
I tried using a talking thermometer on my preschooler a few weeks back only to discover it no longer worked, that'd been how long since I'd used it.
See if anybody on the list has one they can recommend and spend your time finding a peditritian you can work with and who can work with you and your family. Remember, you and the kids are what keep these guys in business.

etHi Ashley. If you have an iPhone, I would recommend the Kinsa their mom at her. It only cost about 20 bucks at Target. It has a free app to go
along with it that is accessible with voiceover.
