Dear Members,

I hope all of you are doing well. I have some good news to share with all of you. Last month I began looking for a residential program that would allow me to refine my daily living skills. My search began at the Perkins School For The Blind in Watertown, Massachusetts, but I discovered that they did not serve anyone over the age of twenty-two.

After a meeting with my Vocational Rehabilitation counselor, I decided to contact our local Rehab Center for the blind here in Florida. This facility is one hour away from my home. Last week my parents and I toured the facility, and we were impressed with what we saw. The facilities are tidy and the environment is professional. I am happy to report that I will be participating in there Independent Living Skills program. I will be learning how to clean, cook, do laundry, shop for groceries, manage money, and perform other household tasks. I am in the process of signing the forms that need to be submitted along with my referral. I will keep you posted about the process.
