Hello Tara,
I forwarded your message to a friend of mine in WI. She is the director of an organization which transcribes books of all kinds into braille and also creates audio books. I am not sure if they are currently up and running, which is why I did not send you her info directly. They charge for their services, I believe, whatever it would cost to obtain copies of the books in print. When she gets back to me, I will let you know. She is also blind, and a mom--though her son is grown and married--so she will definitely understand the desire to get these books transcribed in order to read them with your kids.
Melissa

First of all, thanks everybody for the audio book recommendations. I found a good one if you’re in Audible subscriber. It’s called the flying flamingo sisters and it’s free this month to audible subscribers. There is a series of books on Amazon that I am trying to find in accessible format or make accessible. They are published by Usborne and they are called my first learning library. There are 60 books in the series. They are beginning reader books. They are color-coded so the 20 Green books are the beginning readers and they get progressively more difficult. There is a part that the parent or the grown-up breeds and then there is a part that the child reads. They’re really brilliant! And the braille on them is nonexistent! Does anyone know of a braille transcriber I could work with or does anyone have any other ideas on how to make these accessible?
Thanks so much for any help!
Tara
