Hello NFBC Federationists,

I am attaching a flyer, as well as pasting below the information for the Job
Readiness Workshop that will be hosted by the San Fernando Valley chapter.
Please come to support us and hear from good speakers that we have lined up
for you. Please share this information with all of your friends and fellow
federationists, and anyone and everyone blind and low vision who want to be
employed. Please call in or email to RSVP to give us an idea of how many
chairs to set up for.

Thank you in advance for coming.

National Federation of the Blind of California

San Fernando Valley Chapter

The NFBC San Fernando Valley chapter is hosting a Job Readiness Workshop on
Saturday, October 16, 2010. Are you job ready? Would you like to be?

*	Learn about how the State Department of Rehabilitation can assist
you in your job search and the services they provide to help you become
employed;.
*	Learn from a Social Security representative about how your benefits
may be affected by your employment and learn more about work incentives
available such as the "Ticket to Work program."
*	Hear advice from career counselors on how to prepare yourself to
become job ready.
*	Hear from blind and low-vision professionals who have worked about
how they became employed and their strategies for remaining marketable and
competitive.

This four-hour presentation is on October 16, 2010, from 10 am to 2 pm. It
will be held at 7901 Lindley Ave., Reseda, CA 91335. For more information
and to RSVP, please contact Racquel Decipeda (SFV chapter Secretary) at
818-457-1482. Or email at nfbevents at gmail.com. (RSVP is encouraged please.)

The mission of the National Federation of the Blind is to achieve widespread
emotional acceptance and intellectual understanding that the real problem of
blindness is not the loss of eyesight but the misconceptions and lack of
information which exist. We do this by bringing blind and low vision people
together to share successes, to support each other during difficult times,
and to find innovative solutions.

Membership in the NFB is extremely rewarding because it opens up a network
of unparalleled support, friendship, and resources. With more than 50,000
members, the National Federation of the Blind is the largest and most
influential membership organization of blind people in the United States.
Anyone and everyone (blind, low vision, family members and friends) are
welcome to come and check out our meetings and join our chapter if
interested.
