*Recycling For Sight: Exciting Volunteer and Service Opportunity with Lions
Center*

Recycling For Sight

Lions Center and Vista Center are partnering together with an exciting
opportunity!

Vista Center San Jose has been designated as the location for monthly
delivery of approximately 100,000 eye glasses which will be prepared and
shipped Internationally to Prisons and other identified partners who will
provide the eye glasses to those in need. Let’s put those skills we’ve been
learning all year to good use while giving back to the community.

Here’s more information about Recycling for Sight

Lions are in receipt of 100,000 or more used eyeglasses every couple

of months through an anonymous corporate relationship

The recycling prescription eyeglasses are distributed to the needy in

Lions in Sight and Lions Clubs International sponsored international

medical missions

This will be a monthly event so if you can’t make it this month, you may be
able to make it some other time.

Lunch is served.

*Vista Voyagers Kayaking Trip in October*

Join the Voyagers on an overnight kayak adventure to Angel Island, the
jewel of San Francisco Bay. This one-night getaway is packed with fun
learning opportunities for your student to develop independence, learn a
new accessible physical activity, and form lasting friendships. During the
trip, Voyagers will learn the basics of kayaking, paddle to Angel Island,
hike and explore the islands, and camp within historic Civil War buildings.
The next day, we’ll enjoy a morning paddle back to Sausalito to close our
most popular Fall event. This trip is great for novice to advanced paddlers
of varying abilities and backgrounds, and all students will be paired with
sighted guides. We will partner with the fabulous Environmental Travel
Companions who will provide experienced guides and camping equipment.
Complete safety and health protocols will be followed. Don’t miss this
one-of-a-kind Voyager adventure! Feel free to contact Bethany with specific
questions.
