Hi all,

We have launched a youth newsletter called Youth In Vision, all Voyager and
Youth of Tomorrow invites will be sent in on a monthly newsletter. You
might have missed it due to the new format and title. So check out our
exciting Youth of Tomorrow events for March below. Don't worry, RSVP is
still the same, just simply shoot me an email! Also, if you know of anyone
who may be interested in attending, please share this email with them and
spread the word!

*Youth of Tomorrow*:* The art of the job search?*

Searching for a job, internship or volunteer experience is often a job in
itself. In this workshop, we’ll talk about how to organize your job search
to increase your productivity if and when you’re ready to start looking. We
will practice researching positions, discuss our skills and strengths to
see how they fit the job description and discuss how to best present
ourselves for the positions we discover for when we are ready to interview
and start searching for jobs.

When: March 13 from 1pm-2pm PST

Where: Zoom

Who: Youth living with vision loss ages 14 - 24

RSVP: Amy Jine at ajine at vistacenter.org

*YoT: Paving the Way for Youth Leaders - A Day in the Life*

Youth of Tomorrow will build on their informational interview skills by
meeting an expert who is an entrepreneur, mentor and career coach and
executive recruiter.

Cindy Fassler, an experienced career coach and executive recruiter will
talk about what led her to the field and the skills she developed to become
a successful entrepreneur from the perspective of someone living with a
visual impairment. Her passion is helping people launch careers. Come get
the inside scoop on how to develop the skills you need to unlock your
passions to pursue the career of your choice and ask any burning questions
related to independence, blindness, careers and whatever else may be on
your mind.

When: March 27th from 1pm - 2pm PST

Where: Zoom

Who: Youth living with vision loss ages 14 - 24

RSVP: Amy Jine at ajine at vistacenter.org

Also…APH Career Connect is seeking contributions to their blog, if you or
anyone you know might be interested in contributing, please let me know.
This blog reaches a lot of people in the blind and visually impaired
community so it’d be a great place to show off your writing skills.

APHCareerConnect blog topics for spring 2021.

   - Topic: It’s never too late to be thinking about summer activities ...

(Ideas, spring, time to be thinking about getting a job, internship, summer
program, camp)

Perspective from a young adult or adult

Publish in mid-March

   - Topic: Write about a summer work experience (PRE ETS) program and the
joys and challenges of working a first job.

Perspective from a recent participant from one of your programs or a
related program.

   - Topic: Connecting with a Mentor

Perspective: having a young adult write about how they found a mentor and
how their mentoring works and what they like about it and how it’s helped
or is helping them achieve career and life long success

   - Topic: What’s an internship , why do you want one
   - Topic: Volunteering, what do you do when your job search is stalling
   - Topic: It’s Not All Work, How and Why We Play, perhaps a perspective
from a recent or former student in a summer work experience program who can
write about some of the fun things that we teach them. In other words, ECC
   stuff disguised as fun activity.
   - Topic: Applying for college, the in’s and out’s of the college
application and what well rounded means
   - Topic: The importance of Civic engagement / community involvement
   - Topic: What to do/prepare for when visiting/choosing colleges

And if you or that special person with a perspective in your life wants to
write on a variation on one or more of the above topics, that too is fine.
