1: Among the Giants (USA Documentary, 23 minutes)

Synopsis:

The Adaptive Design Association, a nonprofit organization located in New
York City, builds customized equipment for kids and adults with
disabilities, mainly using cardboard. The film portrays the organization's
mission through the compelling stories of two fascinating individuals,
causing viewers to question what it means to solve problems, be creative,
and impact the community.

2: Crooked Beauty (USA Documentary, 30 minutes)

Synopsis:

A visually stunning account of artist-activist Jacks Ashley McNamara's
transformative journey from troubled childhood to psych ward patient to
pioneering mental health advocate. This poetic tale reshapes mental health
stigmas while re-approaching madness as a tool for creativity, inspiration,
and hope.

King Arts Complex, 867 Mount Vernon Avenue, Columbus, 43203

7:00 pm - My Spectacular Theater (Chinese Drama in Chinese with subtitles
and English dubbing, 120 minutes)

Chen Yu, a hawker of pirated DVDs, finds refuge and employment in a Beijing
movie theater for the blind. As his relationship to the blind community
deepens, he finds love, acceptance, and heartbreak in this beautifully-shot
ode to the power of cinema.

Wednesday, November 7 (2 Films)

Ohio Historical Society, 800 East 17th Avenue, Columbus, 43211

1: 12:00 noon - Praying with Lior (USA Documentary, 87 minutes)

Synopsis:

Lior has Down syndrome, and has spent his entire life praying with utter
abandon. As his Bar Mitzvah approaches, different characters provide a
window into life spent "praying with Lior." The movie poses difficult
questions such as what is "disability" and who really talks to God?

2: 7:00 pm - Special People (UK Comedy, 80 minutes)

Synopsis:

Enlisted to teach a class of teenagers in wheelchairs about filmmaking, the
neurotic Jasper is met with a snappy attitude from the streetwise
adolescents. This witty comedy questions condescending outreach projects,
self-defeating attitudes, and the vacuity of the film business- all with a
healthy helping of self-parody
