Minutes

Capital Chapter National Federation of the Blind of Ohio

April 27, 2013

The meeting was called to order by President Shelbi Hindel
at 2:08 PM., at the Maynard Avenue United Methodist Church 2350 Indianola
Avenue.

Members present were: Angela Clark, Stephanie Claytor, Eric Duffy, Shelbi
Hindel, and MariLyn Piepho.

The Presidential Release was played and discussed. We spent
some time discussing the vehicle donation program. We can now accept
donations of cars, trucks, boats with trailers, motor cycles, planes,
tractors, vans, and RV's. All we need to do is find the donors. We can send
them to www.nfb.org/vehicledonations. Interested donors may also call
1-855-659-9314. Richard Payne is coordinating the program for the NFB of
Ohio.

Angie moved that we adopt the minutes as emailed. MariLyn
seconded the motion, and it passed.

Stephanie Claytor gave the financial report. We have $605.00 in
the treasury. MariLyn moved the financial report be accepted. Angie
seconded the motion, and it carried.

Eric led a discussion of Blindness, Handicap or Characteristic
by Dr., Kenneth Jernigan. Although this article was written many years ago,
it is still relevant in our lives and in the NFB.

The May NFB publication report will be given by Stephanie. June report will
be done by J.W. Smith. People should be thinking about volunteering for this
activity in August and the autumn months.

Eric gave a report on BELL. We have six applicants right now.
Angie and Shelbi have both ordered several books that they are donating to
the program.

POBC fundraiser was discussed. They are donating all proceeds
this year to BELL. There was discussion about this fundraiser. Angie was
happy but surprised to learn she had won a gift card as she had not been
notified of this by anyone in the division.

Eric moved that the May meeting be combined with a picnic at MariLyn's house
on May 25th from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Stephanie seconded the motion, and it
passed. This is our regularly scheduled meeting date although the times are
slightly different. MariLyn will have food for the grill. Angie will bring
potato salad. Shelbi will bring baked beans, Eric chips, and Stephanie
Dessert.

Let Shelbi know if you are coming and what you plan to bring. Please contact
her by Sunday, May 19.

Stephanie is going to look into a fundraiser with the Honey Baked Ham
Company. We should all continue to bring fundraising ideas to the chapter.

State affiliate is selling drawing tickets for an iPad. Cost is $5 each. The
winner will be able to choose from several iPad models. The drawing will
take place at the National convention in Orlando in July.

We will not meet in July, because of BELL.

The August meeting will be combined with a pool party at Angie's.

The meeting adjourned at 3:37 PM.

Respectfully Submitted,

Eric Duffy, Acting Secretary
