Transit System Review Public Meetings Scheduled
 
Since the Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) began operating 40 years ago, the central Ohio region has changed tremendously. As COTA seeks to expand and improve, it is necessary to adapt service to meet the needs of the growing region. For this reason, COTA is conducting a comprehensive Transit System Review (TSR) of its bus network. The TSR will result in recommendations to improve the effectiveness of COTA’s bus network, downtown operations and technologies to meet the needs of growing and changing land uses in the central Ohio region. The recommendations will be constrained by COTA’s current funding levels.
 
COTA’s consultant team, led by IBI Group, in conjunction with COTA staff, developed a draft of the proposed bus network plan and a draft of the downtown operations plan. The draft plans have been designed based on comments collected in a series of public meetings with COTA’s customers, community leaders and stakeholders, as well as a public comment period and an online survey.
 
Five public meetings about the bus network plan and two public meetings about the downtown operations plan will be held throughout the region to solicit feedback about the plans. The draft plans will also be available at cota.com/TSR at the end of May.
