Hello Capital Chapter,
I hope all of you are having a great holiday season! All of us seem to very much enjoy our Christmas party at our last chapter meeting. Looking forward to the upcoming year with a lot more awesome things to do with our chapter.
That brings me to a couple of updates. First of all, several of our members are unavailable to meet on Saturday, January 4 when we would normally Hold our monthly meeting. For this reason, I decided that we should try to meet on the second Saturday for January only. So for the one month, we will meet on January 11. I also was able to get the private dining room at Rusty bucket. I figured I would try since it was the second Saturday instead of the first this time around, and they were able to accommodate us. So, our next meeting will be Saturday, January 11, at the rusty bucket at 4109 North High St. at 11:00 AM in the private dining room. I hope we have a fantastic turnout. We will be talking a lot about plans for the upcoming year.
Speaking of the upcoming year, we have checked into doing some things with our game night fundraiser. Right now we have it scheduled for Saturday, March 8. We will determine the exact times for the game night as we get a little closer, but right now we have the room that we talked about at the Clinton Lutheran Church from 4 to 9 that evening. John was unavailable to help with this, and asked me if I would put someone else in charge, so I asked Erik Duffy to share this committee. And he agreed to do so. John agreed to help as he can. But had quite a bit going on right now.
Also, one thing for us to consider is whether we would like to hold future chapter meetings at this church. There are definite pluses and minuses to this. first of all, the pluses. It would be a private, quiet, and accessible location that we would be guaranteed of holding every first Saturday. Now the minuses. We would not have lunch included as a part of our meeting, though we could go out to lunch at a different location afterwards. Also, the church would require us to pay $20 each time. I wanted to put this out there to all of you to see if that would be something acceptable. Our chapter used to give a nice donation to the church in the past that we used, so this really wouldn’t be any different. Also, some of us could, if we wanted, to put some money towards that each month. there would be no obligation to do that, though. Also, if we choose to use this church, they asked if we would be available to meet from 10 until noon. This is the time that we used to hold our chapter meetings prior to starting to meet at restaurants. We did only change it to 11 when we started at the rusty bucket Since that is when they open. So let us know what you think of this as well.
Please respond to either this email, or to me off list, and let us know your thoughts. In the meantime, I hope all of you have a very wonderful Christmas, and a blessed and prosperous new year!
Annette.

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Everyday we raise the expectations of blind people because we know that low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want, blindness is not what holds you back.
