[Cash-and-caring] Welcom and Washington Seminar

Seems like an interesting idea to me. We would need to talk with Bridgid only if we are worried about how the donation relates to the quiz and drawing. Will people donate if they don't know the answers? If they can view the quiz and they know they don't know all the answers, what is their incentive to donate? Or is the quiz just a hook to encourage a contribution? Are we targeting our members primarily with this?

I think using the NFB Facebook page more dynamicaly is a good idea.

As you can see Dave Andrews did, indeed, get us a list. It is a private list, so we should be able to discuss what we want to without much interference until we are ready to go beyond this group.

I have talked withConchita about doing a quizz on Facebook for Washington Seminar. The idea would be to announce an online quizz at that time. We would have ten or twenty questions about the NFB and blindness. It would cost people five dollars to enter. Everyone who enters would be designated a friend of the NFB. Further those who get all the questions right would be placed in a drawing. We would give at least one prize, say one hundred dollars, unless somebody can get a great gift certificate donated. Only those who get all the answers correct would be entered in the drawing. We could decide whether all the answers could be found on the NFB Web Site or not.

Committee members, does this strike you as a good idea. Do you have comments or suggestions for making it better?

Have any of you thought up another fundraising event that could be done or kicked off at Washington?

Conchita says she can do the Facebook work. There would be a link to a blogspot for the quizz. Payment would be through paypal. We would need to read the entries. We could keep it going for a week, two weeks or something else.

Mark, does this fit with the uses you seek on Facebook? Do we have a Paypal account that we could use or should we get our own? Should we be checking
with Brigid or Charlie about any of this? Conchita says we should just
put it on the NFB Facebook page, something I have never used.

How many people on this committee are on Facebook?
We don't know how many people would pay to participate in a quizz or drawing, but we would learn some things. If it works even some, we should be able to improve it.

I am looking forward to your reactions.

Ramona
