[Cash-and-caring] convention activities

A couple of thoughts here.

First, Scott Labarre has some experience with estate stuff and he has been doing some research.

Secondly, a national series of events locally executed is a good idea.

Does anyone know of affiliates who sent out mailings to Attorneys who do Estate Planning? I asked about it on the State Leaders list. I want to say that whomever I had spoken to about it indicated that it was a fruitful effort. Any idea which affiliates are doing this?

I agree with the plan for convention. What decisions have been made as to how to communicate this information to the affiliates and/ or chapters? Are we going to do our own newsletter?

I do think we need to consider an organizational effort. We need to go after outside donors. A national whatever-a-thon would allow opportunity for corporate donors and advertising where we would be able to make a large impact.

We have a meeting/program planned for Friday at lunchtime. I think we should have some general discussion and hear from Parnell Diggs. I think Richie should talk some about grants. Does anyone else have suggestions that should be included in a one-hour program? Jean Brown, I will want to hear about your walk-a-thons. Hoby, I still need to talk with you about wine tasting.

If anybody else knows of an event not yet included in our Toolkit that has already raised 5000 dollars or more, please bring it to our attention.

Do you think we should work toward coordinated walk-a-thons or bike rides? I believe that Anil is not now going to take this on.

Have any of you had requests to advise other chapters or affiliates? I have been asked to talk with a chapter in Indiana, and I already joined a conference call in Montana. This is what we are for.

I am still receiving requests for the Toolkit. Richie, are you also? I think we are going to include the list of services from the Jernigan Institute in our newsletter. Others may want to do this or something similar. This information was requested at our state convention this weekend. We had three brand new members, and I wish I had taken it with me.
I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Ramona
