All I know is a few years back my chapter was determining if we needed our own 501 C3 status, but we were told by our affiliate that all we needed was our own employee ID; that we would be covered under the affiliate’s 501 C3. So we just applied for the employee ID and have continued to use the affiliate’s 501 C3 status when needed.

People are mixing up the issue of employee identification numbers and 501 © (3) status. They are two totally different things. Please call me if you need clarification.

If a division in your state, you should fall under your affiliate’s 501 C3 status. I know this is how it has workd in our state for chapter’s and state division’s.

Hi everyone,

I am new to this list so sorry if this question has already been asked. I am the vice-president of the National Federation of the Blind Community Service Division among other offices I hold in the
Columbia chapter and the state of Missouri. What I am wanting to
know is how do divisions handle when they don't have a 501(C3) letter when it comes to fundraising. Are their fundraisers that can be done that don't require the division to have a 501(C3) letter?

thanks,

Dacia
