VANCOUVER – The public is invited to learn more about upcoming paving and
safety improvement designs on State Route 500

On Thursday, June 5, the Washington State Department of Transportation will
host an in-person open house to share future safety improvement plans and
gather feedback to help ensure SR 500 supports the needs of those who live,

to improve safety and access for all travelers. Complete Streets are
designed to support all types of travel, including walking, biking,
driving, using public transit and using mobility devices like wheelchairs.
This approach helps make roads better for everyone by making them easier to
use, safer, less costly and good for the environment. Improvements may
include ADA-accessible sidewalks that everyone can use, paths for walking
and biking, bike lanes or wide shoulders, visible crosswalks, speed limit
changes and other ways to slow down traffic and reduce collisions.
