Federation Family,
I'm sorry to share that Frances Walls passed away on October 27th, 2025, at
the age of 91 after a long illness. She was a member of the Eastern Shore
Chapter for over 40 years.
Frances began losing her vision in 1973. She went to work for BISM in
Salisbury, where her first job was filling freezer bags with frozen foods.
She moved on to the sewing department and retired from BISM in 1999 after 26
years of employment.
Frances was a delightful lady who had an encouraging word for every blind
person that she met. She was a true federationist who maintained her
independence, lived the life she wanted, and had an indominable spirit of
enthusiasm.
Please keep Frances and all those who love her in your thoughts and prayers.
Ronza Othman, President
National Federation of the Blind of Maryland

Pronouns: she, her, hers
The National Federation of the Blind of Maryland knows that blindness is not
the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want;
blindness is not what holds you back
