[Cinci-nfb] A question for anyone who went to the Laterza coffee tour or Rivertown

Hi Chris,
Wow! The ugly hackers of the world must really be stepping up their
efforts.
I got a fraud alert from PayPal this week, and was told that people from
Vietnam and the Filipines were trying to access my account.
One of my students got a message from some jerks pretending to be Microsoft
Security.
And I've heard a few other minor things.
Best we can do is stay on top of personal information.
Did you get it straightened out with your bank?
I always hate it when I have to get a new account number for anything,
because I memorize them and put them in braille on my cards, and changing
always feels so disruptive.
Anyway, thanks for letting everyone know.
Peace,
Deborah

Subject: [Cinci-nfb] A question for anyone who went to the Laterza coffee
tour or Rivertown
Hello all.
I have a quick question for anyone who went to the Laterza Coffee Tour or
had lunch at the Rivertown Brewery afterwards. Did you use a credit card? If
so, did you receive a call from your issuing bank about your card being
compromised?
I'm asking because I received a call from my bank this morning that my card
was being deactivated, because my account is on a list of potentially
compromised accounts. The only other recent charges on this account are from
Amazon and Apple, and I'm wondering if Laterza is processing credit card
info through an E-commerce platform that's been hacked. Since Rivertown and
Laterza are small businesses who share the same ownership, I can't
necessarily rule this out.
Just wanted to ask.
Chris
