It's too bad we have to go through Cabvi, because that can take forever.
Sincerely, Dale Barta

Thanks, Walter. What would really help is information on where the stops are
located. I'm not talking about modifications like truncated domes
necessarily, but just a written tutorial about the exact location of bus
stops at major transfer points like Government Square, Peebles Corner, the
Uptown District etc. would be extremely helpful. A Blind person shouldn't
have to play amateur detective or historian to figure out where to get on an
off the bus in an unfamiliar location. While Google Transit and apps like
Bus Detective have made this issue at least somewhat tolerable, I think
SORTA (or we) need to step up to the plate and begin making it possible for
blind people to get travel training and information without having to go
through the agency intake process first. As I mentioned at a meeting two
years ago when the Cincinnati Bell Connector launched and Deborah Kendrick
took that tour, people with other disabilities can qualify for free travel
training from SORTA. A Blind person however has to go through other
channels, because SORTA considers that O & M and they have just punted any
kind of O & M instruction to CABVI.

These are just my thoughts, and I hope the list will take them for what it's
worth.

Thanks for sharing.

Chris

Hi, Cinci friends,

I am still catching up on my post-travel reading load, and though this
article is from last month, it's still accessible and probably of interest
for you, so here's sharing.

In Cincinnati, a grassroots group of transit activists, the Better Bus
Coalition, is tackling the problem with a DIY bench made from $30 in
materials. Two Better Bus Coalition members built the benches themselves at
one member's wood shop. Link below to read on.

Take care,
Elizabeth
