Hello all.

 

The following is a summary of the Membership Committee planning meeting
concerning the Cincinnati Vision Expo at the Urban Artifact Brewery
currently scheduled for October 12. In Attendance were: Christopher Sabine,
President Sheri Albers, Deanna Lewis, Gloria Robinson, Dianne Gudaitis,
Angela Maddox and Tapeka Turner. Marianne Denning indicated that she was
unable to attend.

 

Sheri indicated that she has reached out to a representative of Humanware
concerning their availability as an exhibitor but has not yet received a
firm response from the current regional vendor. Christopher Sabine, Sheri
Albers and Gloria Robinson have reached out to media contacts at WKRC
Channel 12 and WXIX Channel 19 respectively. Diane Gudaitis has reached out
to the Ohio Coordinator for Guiding Eyes for the Blind, who expressed that
she is "90% sure" that either she or one of the organization's Ohio-based
puppy raisers could exhibit. Diane suggested that she bring postcards from
Guiding Eyes enabling event participants to be entered into a raffle for the
organization at no cost to the participant. There will also be information
from the Ohio Association of Guide Dog Users at this exhibit table per
Deanna Lewis. Christopher is reaching out to J. W. Smith and possibly Dr.
Peters concerning an exhibit TABLE FOR Opportunities for Ohioans with
Disabilities.

 

As Marianne was unable to attend this meeting, the question of printing
postcards (either through CABVI or our own resources) is still open. These
postcards will be sent to the National Library Service Cleveland Regional
Library for distribution to eligible NLS recipients in Hamilton, Butler,
Warren and Clermont Counties. Christopher has reached out to Marianne
concerning this. He has also forwarded a list of zip codes to Sheri Albers
for the target distribution area for the postcards following the meeting.

 

Gloria Robinson is working on catering and soliciting food donations for the
event. Gloria has organized the logistical planning for the event itself
into ad hoc committees; Christopher Sabine and Angela Maddox are in charge
of meet and greet, Gloria Robinson and Tapeka Turner are currently handling
refreshments, and Anthony King is currently in charge of cleanup.
Christopher indicated that his mother can also assist with set up and other
activities as needed.

 

It was agreed that Sheri and Brooke Albers will produce the event flier and
work with Tyler Hill from Urban Artifact to disseminate it-with other
members offering support as needed. Christopher agreed to reach out to Tyler
Hill concerning rental furniture for the stage area and exhibit tables as
discussed. Christopher sent a text to Tyler following this meeting on
Tuesday July 16 but has yet to receive a response as of this writing.

 

It was agreed that the title for this event will be "Cincinnati Vision
Expo." The next planning meeting of the Membership Committee has been
scheduled for Tuesday August 13 at 7:00 P.m. by telephone conference.
