Meeting Minutes for April 2022


  1.  The April 2022 meeting of the National Federation of the Blind of Ohio, Cincinnati Chapter was convened by President Gloria Robinson at approximately 1:35 P.M. on Saturday April 30, 2022. In attendance were President Gloria Robinson, Dave Perry, Emily Pennington, Chris Windham, Gary Warren, Christopher Sabine, Lisa Hall, Frank Bragassa, and Haley Thurston. Cassandra Proud attended this meeting as a guest of the Chapter.



  1.  Dave Perry moved to accept the March minutes as presented. Gary Warren seconded, and the motion passed.



  1.  Emily Pennington presented this month's Treasurer's Report. Dave Perry moved to accept the Treasurer's Report. Gary Warren seconded, and the motion passed.



  1.  Dave Perry presented a report from the Fundraising Committee. He indicated that the Committee is extending the Spring Double Good Popcorn Fundraiser until May 26. All members must turn in their sales to President Gloria Robinson by May 31.



  1.  At its April meeting, the National Federation of the Blind of Ohio Board of Directors agreed to standardize the naming of each chapter in the affiliate to promote consistency within the affiliate and conform to state regulations. After discussion, Christopher Sabine moved that the Chapter be officially renamed as the Cincinnati and Hamilton County Chapter, National Federation of the blind of Ohio. Dave Perry seconded, and the motion passed. Immediately following the meeting, Christopher Sabine submitted notice of the change in the Chapter's name to Richard Payne, President of the Ohio Affiliate, and Barbara Pierce, Chair of the Ohio Affiliate Constitution Committee, for their review and approval.



  1.  At President Gloria Robinson's request, Dave Perry and Gary warren agreed to organize a training for members of the Blind Community on using IOS on an iPhone and a sensitivity training for local restaurants on service to Blind patrons. The planning for these events will begin in July following National Convention.



  1.  Dave Perry reported that the workers of the National Industries Program of the Cincinnati Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CABVI) and Teamsters Local 100, the union representing the workers, ratified a new contract with CABVI management on Friday April 29 after months of negotiations.



  1.  The April 2022 meeting of the National Federation of the Blind of Ohio, Cincinnati Chapter was adjourned at approximately 2:00 P.M. on Saturday April 30, 2022.
